چکیده
This paper presents the results of a project aimed at evaluating performance ultrasonic techniques for detecting flaws in Francis turbine runners. work is first phase more ambitious program improving reliability inspection critical areas runners may be utilized to supply power during peak periods, which means that they experience additional load stress associated with start and stop sequences. Inspection manufacturing then paramount importance remove as much feasible all flaw initiation sites before heat treatment. one objective collect initial data on simplified mock-up compare experimental simulations performed by CIVA, computer simulation package. The area interest region highest between blade web. A welded T-joint coupon made UNS S41500 was manufactured represent this high-stress area. During FCAW welding process, ceramic beads were embedded weld create discontinuities whose size range initiate crack. material carried out various nondestructive testing (NDT) methods namely conventional pulse-echo, phased array, total focusing method (TFM). With these results, detection rates obtained order effectiveness each method.

متن کاملSingle Crystal Turbine Blade Inspection Using a 2d Ultrasonic Array
In this paper a non-destructive method for inspecting jet-engine turbine blades for root cracking is developed. This method utilises 2D ultrasonic arrays to enable the detection and characterisation of sub-surface cracks in three-dimensions. The majority of modern turbine blades are manufactured from single crystals of nickel based superalloys which exhibit high elastic anisotropy. This complic...
